Louth County Council announce dates of Mattress & Sofa Amnesty events

Louth County Council have announced dates for a Mattress and Sofa Amnesty campaign taking place in September.

The events take place as part of the Anti-Dumping Initiative 2024 and will include the disposal of unwanted mattresses, couches and armchairs only.

The campaign aims to tackle the illegal dumping of household waste, and provides a free, safe location for the legal disposal of these large common household items. 

The amnesty event will take place on Wednesday 11th September 2024 from 9.30a.m to 5.30p.m at:

  • V&W Civic Amenity Centre, Newry Rd, Dundalk, Co. Louth A91 X72W
  • V&W Civic Amenity Centre, Mell Road, Mell, Drogheda, Co. Louth A92 N126

On Thursday 12th September 2024, the mattress and sofa amnesty will take place from 9.30a.m to 3.30pm at:

  • Kieran & McGee Ardee Livestock Sales Yard, Ardee, Co. Louth. A92 VP92

Mattress and couch disposal costs will be covered by Louth County Council.  Normal recycling centre entry charges of €4 will apply in Dundalk and Drogheda.

Please note – Mattresses, sofas and armchairs are the only items of furniture which will be accepted. There is a maximum limit of 3 items per vehicle. No other items will be accepted as part of the amnesty events.
