Louth County Council operates and maintains two graveyards in the County.  Plots are available as outlined below

1. St. Patrick's Cemetery, Dowdallshill, Dundalk, Co. Louth

 

Opening of existing grave             €450.00

New single grave purchase           €600.00 plus opening of grave €450.00

New double grave purchase         €1,200.00 plus opening of grave €450.00

 

A single plot can accommodate three burials.

 

A double plot can accommodate six burials.

 

Plots can only be purchased at the time of burial from the undertaker involved.

Louth County Council, with the assistance of Jim Kerley of the Old Dundalk Society, have created a free, searchable database of burials for St Patrick’s Cemetery in Dowdallshill, Dundalk.

The records include the name, age, religious persuasion, occupation, marital status, last place of residence, dates of death and burial, and grave number and location. The earliest burial on the database is April 1895. The last date is December 2019. Recent burials will be added on an annual rolling five-year period. The last place of residence field has been redacted for those entries under thirty years old and will be added on an annual rolling basis.

2. Newtown Cross Lawn Cemetery, Newtownstalaban, Drogheda, Co. Louth  

 

New single grave purchase €850.00

New double grave purchase €1,700.00

 

Plots can only be purchased at the time of burial from the undertaker involved.

 

A single plot can accommodate three burials.

 

A double plot can accommodate six burials.

Please note that the facility in Newtownstalaban, Drogheda is also the location for the Angel’s Plot in the County which is run by the HSE.

All other burial grounds in County Louth are managed by the Roman Catholic Church and Church of Ireland Parish Authorities.

A further 21 former graveyards were historically vested in the ownership but are now considered closed for further burials.
