Draft Dunleer Town Centre First Plan

Non-Statutory Public Consultation

Louth County Council is inviting members of the public to participate in the non-statutory public consultation on the draft Town Centre First Plan for Dunleer.  The draft Plan has been developed following a collaborative approach between the Dunleer town team, local stakeholders, elected members, Louth County Council, urban designers Building Design Partnership Ltd (BDP) and feedback from the local community.

Dunleer is one of 26 towns nationally, one in each county, which has been awarded funding to develop a town centre plan under the Government’s Town Centre First Policy, which aims to tackle vacancy, combat dereliction and breathe new life into our town centres creating towns that function as ‘viable, vibrant and attractive locations for people to live, work and visit’.

The draft non-statutory plan has created a vision and set out specific objectives and interventions to helpre-imagine and revitalise the town centre. The Plan will not be set in stone but will set out a range of potential opportunities. A local representative ‘Town Team’ has been formed who in collaboration with the Council will use the Plan to help deliver improvements to the town. The Plan also sets out a vision that is intended to stimulate investment from the private sector.

The Plan is informed by what the community and local stakeholders said during the first stage of public consultation which took place between December 6th 2022 and January 8th 2023 and translates the challenges identified and the ideas proposed into an ambitious yet realistic vision.

The public consultation period will run from Wednesday 25th October to Wednesday 8th November 2023.

The draft plan can be found on the Louth County Council consultation portal from 25th October 2023 at: https://consult.louthcoco.ie
