Louth County Council has signed a contract with CJ Callan Construction Ltd for the delivery of a new infill social housing development at Rathmullen Park, Drogheda.

Works on the infill scheme will commence on-site in the coming weeks, bringing underutilised land within Rathmullen Park into active use, supporting sustainable development and maintaining the character and vitality of the neighbourhood while increasing housing supply.

It will deliver four high-quality family homes comprising two 2-bedroom houses, one 3-bedroom house, and one 4-bedroom house. The scheme will also include associated site works, landscaping, and enhancements to existing car parking facilities.

Cllr Seán Kelly, Cathaoirleach of Louth County Council, welcomed the project, stating:

“I am delighted to see this project progressing to the construction stage. Infill developments such as Rathmullen Park allow us to increase housing delivery while strengthening existing communities sensitively and sustainably. This scheme will provide much-needed homes for families in Drogheda and is a strong example of how we can make best use of our resources.”

Cllr Michelle Hall, Mayor of the Borough District of Drogheda at the time of the contract signing, added:

“This is a very positive development for Rathmullen Park and the wider Drogheda area. The delivery of new, high-quality homes within established estates helps ensure our town continues to grow in a balanced and inclusive way. I look forward to seeing the benefits this project will bring to local families.”

David Conway, Chief Executive of Louth County Council, said:

“The Rathmullen Park infill development forms part of the Council’s broader programme to increase the supply of social housing and address housing need in the Drogheda area. We are committed to delivering homes that are well-designed, energy efficient and integrated into existing communities, and I am very pleased to see works now progressing.”

Colin Callan, CJ Callan Construction Ltd, commented:

“CJ Callan Construction is delighted to be part of this exciting new project at Rathmullen Park in Drogheda and to be working alongside Louth County Council and the full design team.”

Infill housing schemes form an important part of the Council’s social housing delivery. The Rathmullen Park Infill Scheme was approved under the Part 8 planning process, following a detailed consultation process and engagement with the local community and elected members.
