Nine North Louth Community Projects Benefit from CLÁR Funding

Louth County Council welcomes the announcement by the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht of over €12.3 million in funding for 206 projects nationwide under the 2025 CLÁR Programme.

As part of the investment, nine projects in North Louth have received a total of €443,849, which supports the development of community facilities and amenities in rural areas.

  • Carlingford: St Mary’s Parochial Hall/Cooley Kickhams GFC - Construction and resurfacing of car park (€99,137)
  • Carlingford: Carlingford Tidy Towns - Replacement of outdoor exercise equipment on village green (€31,635)
  • Jenkinstown: St Patrick's GFC - Upgrade of toilet, car park, seating and dugouts (€90,000)
  • Omeath: Omeath Tidy Towns - Sensory musical and play units, seated train and biodiversity signage (€23,562)
  • Omeath: Cúchulainn Gaels GFC - Two storage units (€65,000)
  • Ravensdale: Ravensdale Sports Club CLG - Tarmac walkway (€52,700)
  • Ravensdale: Dulargy National School - Resurfacing of play area (€34,040)
  • Riverstown: Rathcor National School - Fencing alongside playing field (€8,111)
  • Riverstown: Rathcor National School - Construction of garden room/community meeting room (€39,653)

Cllr Seán Kelly, Cathaoirleach of Louth County Council, said: “This funding is a huge boost for communities in North Louth. These projects will enhance local facilities, encourage participation in sport and recreation, and create spaces that bring people together. Louth County Council is proud to work with local groups to deliver these improvements.”

David Jones, Director of Services, added: “Louth County Council works closely with local groups to bring projects like these to fruition. Our team provides guidance and support from the application stage through to delivery to ensure communities can access funding and make the most of these opportunities, so we’re delighted to see nine projects in North Louth benefit from this year’s CLÁR programme.”

The funding, announced by Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary TD, is in respect of Measure 1: Developing Community Facilities and Amenities and Measure 3: Our Living Islands. Funding under Measure 2 was announced earlier in the year.

The CLÁR Programme provides targeted funding for small-scale projects in areas that have experienced significant depopulation, helping to strengthen rural communities and improve the quality of life.
