The newly established Louth Local Community Safety Partnership (LCSP) held its inaugural meeting on the 27th January 2026 at County Hall, Dundalk.
The Louth LCSP brings together residents, community organisations, elected members, An Garda Síochána, Louth County Council, Tusla, the Health Service Executive (HSE), education representatives, business representatives, and other key stakeholders. The purpose of the LCSP is to provide a collaborative forum where community safety concerns can be identified, discussed, and addressed through coordinated, evidence‑based action.
LCSPs have been established in every local authority across Ireland, replacing and expanding upon the work of the former Joint Policing Committees.
Speaking after the meeting, David Conway, Chief Executive of Louth County Council said:
“Today’s meeting marks a major milestone in delivering Ireland’s new national approach to community safety for Louth. The establishment of the Louth Local Community Safety Partnership ensures that communities are active partners in shaping safety priorities and identifying the improvements that matter most in their daily lives. The Partnerships remit goes far beyond policing; it includes crime prevention, environmental enhancement, place‑making, and promoting the broader wellbeing of our residents.
Through this collaborative approach, we have a real opportunity to strengthen community confidence, improve quality of life, and make Louth an even better place to live, work and play.May I take this opportunity to wish the Partnership well and look forward to working with them.”
The inaugural meeting focused on establishing governance arrangements, discussing the LCSP’s statutory functions, preparing for the development of the first Louth Local Community Safety Plan, and identifying immediate opportunities for collaboration.
At the meeting Mr Nasir Yasin was elected Chair and Cllr Paddy Mc Quillan was elected vice-Chair. Both shall serve in these roles for a period of three years from the date of appointment.
Mr Yasin, the newly elected Chair of Louth LCSP, said:
“It is an honour to be elected Chair of the Louth Local Community Safety Partnership. Our goal is to listen, to engage, and to work collectively to make every part of Louth safer and more vibrant.
I look forward to working with all partners and, most importantly, with the people of Louth as we build a safety plan that reflects local priorities and delivers meaningful outcomes.”
The Louth LCSP will begin planning community engagement activities and will hold at least one public meeting in 2026. Details will be shared via Louth County Council communications channels. For further information contact Louth Local Community Safety Partnership at communitysafety@louthcoco.ie.
