Temporary Bathing Prohibition: Clogherhead Beach - 22nd July

Louth County Council has issued a temporary bathing prohibition at Clogherhead Beach as a precautionary measure.

The council was notified by Uisce Éireann of a potential overflow at the Clogherhead Wastewater Treatment Plant. Further clarification received today has confirmed the possibility of an incident.

As a precaution, a temporary bathing prohibition will be erected at the beach this afternoon.

Water sampling was carried out today, and the results are expected on 24th July, at which point the situation will be reviewed.

Members of the public are advised not to swim at Clogherhead Beach until further notice.
