Publication of Decision to Adopt Traffic Calming Measures

Section 38 of The Road Traffic Act 1994, as amended and Section 95 of the Road Traffic Act 1961

Please be advised that a decision has been made by the Director of Services Major Capital Projects & Infrastructure Delivery, by virtue of the powers conferred on him by the Local Government Act 2001 and having considered the submission made during the public consultation period, to order the proposed Section 38 Road Traffic Act measures at the following locations:

Locations

  • Safe Routes to School: Bellurgan NS, Dundalk, Co. Louth
  • Safe Routes to School: Callystown NS, Clogherhead, Drogheda, Co. Louth
  • Safe Routes to School: St Mary’s NS, Knockbridge, Dundalk, Co. Louth

Louth County Council, in accordance with Article 6(3) of the EU Habitats Directive (Directive 92/43/EEC) and Regulation 42(1) of the European Communities (Birds and Natural Habitats) Regulations 2011 as amended, has undertaken Appropriate Assessment Screening on the proposed development of Active Travel Proposals on the above aforementioned routes to assess, in view of best scientific knowledge and the conservation objectives of the site, if the works individually or in combination with other plans or projects are likely to have a significant effect on a European Site(s). Following this assessment, it has been determined that Appropriate Assessment is not required as it can be concluded that the works, individually or in combination with other plans or projects, are not likely to have a significant effect on any European Site(s).

Louth County Council, in accordance with EIA Directive 2014/52/EU and Schedule 7 of the Planning and Development (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 2018, has undertaken an Environmental Impact Assessment Screening on the above aforementioned routes to assess in view of best scientific knowledge if the works individually or in combination with other plans or projects are likely to have a significant effect on the environment. Following this assessment, it has been determined that an Environmental Impact Assessment is not required as it can be concluded that the works, individually or in combination with other plans or projects, are not likely to have a significant effect on the receiving environment.
