Louth County Council Celebrates International Women’s Day 2023

The world comes together today to celebrate International Women's Day (IWD). It is an opportunity to celebrate women's achievements and reinforce a commitment to women's equality. It’s also a time to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

The Community Office in Louth County Council has put together a project to celebrate International Women’s Day in Co Louth .

We have invited a number of well known, inspirational women living or working in Co Louth and from different social , economic & cultural communities in Co Louth to take part in the celebrations. This includes women in education, women in local government, young women, older women , women with a disability , women from migrant communities and women working in their respective community groups who are all contributing positively to their communities.

All the women taking part in the celebrations were issued with a set of questions asking them about International Women’s Day, how they will celebrate International Women’s Day ? Who were the women who had inspired them in their life to date ? What advice would they give their younger self or young people in general ?

Responses will be released over the course of today and the following days on the council’s social media platforms
