Have Your Say In Relation to Community Policing in Co Louth 

Notice of the County Louth Joint Policing Committee

Statutory Public Meetings October 2021

The County Louth Joint Policing Committee advises that due to Covid 19 Restrictions they are unable to meet the requirement to hold face to face public meetings in 2021.

However the Committee wish to provide an opportunity for the public to engage with the JPC , which included An Garda Síochána, Elected members from Louth County Council, Oireachtas Members, Officials from Louth County Council and PPN representative's.

As a result the public meetings for 2021 will be held online on the Zoom Platform.

The theme of the Public Meetings for 2021 will be Local Community Policing and a member of An Garda Síochána's Community Action Team will provide a  presentation on the role of this unit.

The Community Action Unit was established to focus on residential areas where there had been significant reports of Anti Social Bahaviour.

The Unit performs high visibility foot and cycle patrols , engaging with local residents, specifically focusing on Anti Social Behaviour.

The Unit can quickly react and deal with reports of Anti Social Behaviour received from local residents, working in close co-operation with Louth County Council. 

Asa result a noticeable reduction in anti social  behaviour has been reported in these areas where the unit operates.

The function of a JPC is to serve as a forum for consultations , discussions and recommendations on matters affecting the policing of the local authority's administrative area.

Members of the public have the right to make their views known and ask questions.

As a result members of the public are invited to submit in writing a question or raise an issue on matters affecting policing within their local area or a question /query on the Community Action Team. The issue question will be forwarded to the relevant authority and a response will issue at October JPC Public Meeting .

Any issues /questions can be forwarded in writing in advance of the public meeting to Administrative Officer , Estate Management , Louth County Council, Millennium Centre, Dundalk, Co Louth or to estatemanagement@louthcoco.ie  and please indicate which JPC area to which the question pertains to. 

All questions must be submitted by Friday 8th October 2021.

The Drogheda Joint Policing Committee Public Meeting is scheduled for Monday 11th October 

The Dundalk Joint Policing Committee Public Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 12th October

The Ardee Joint Policing Committee Public Meeting is scheduled for Thursday 14th October

Please note that the JPC Committee may not consider matters relating to specific criminal investigations or prosecutions or matters relating to the security of the State.
