County Louth Volunteering Framework 2020-2023

Purpose of the Framework

County Louth Volunteering Framework will shape local policy and resourcing relating to volunteering into the future. The Framework charts a pathway for the promotion and support of volunteering over the next three years to the end of the current Louth Economic and Community Plan 2016-2022 (LECP) and the start of the new LECP.

The Framework:

• Examines what constitutes volunteering in County Louth;

• Takes its lead from the recently published DRCD National Volunteering Strategy  2021- 25;

• Has been mapped back from and back to the Louth Local Economic and Community Plan (LECP);

• Has been led by need and evidence and developed using a co-design methodology involving key stakeholders;

• Identifies and reviews challenges faced by both Volunteer Involving Organisations   (VIOs) and volunteers who wish to access volunteering opportunities in County Louth;

• Defines key outcomes for volunteering;

• Defines key priorities and high-level actions moving forward; and

• Recognises the specific role played by volunteers during the recent pandemic. This is the first County Volunteering Framework in Ireland and represents an opportunity to lead the way and model the embedding of volunteering in everyday life in County Louth.
