Brigid Lady of Light

2024 marked the 1500th anniversary of St Brigids death and as part of the Brigid1500 programme for Louth, the Arts Office curated a live theatre production that told the story of Brigids life from her birth in Faughart in Louth to her death in Kildare.

Produced by Arts Officer Moya Hodgers and Directed by An Táin Arts Centre Director, Paul Hayes, the production was a hybrid of community and professional theatre.  The musical score was composed by local duo Daithí Kearney and Adele Commins who also performed, alongside other local musicians and singers. Dancing was provided by representatives from the Coastal School of Ballet in Drogheda and Scoil Rince Mona Ni Rudaigh in Dundalk alongside professional dancer Hannah Bergin.

The event was officially launched during the Brigid1500 festival and ran for 2 night in An Táin Arts Centre in Dundalk to full houses receiving wonderful feedback.
