Pay Parking & Traffic Management
Louth County Council is responsible for pay parking and traffic management in County Louth. You can park in any valid Louth County Council owned pay parking space using a Pay-and-Display ticket. Pay Parking is in Drogheda, Dundalk, and two hours restricted parking is in place in Ardee. Further information and a copy of the relevant bye-laws can found at the links to the left for each area:

Where not to Park
In addition to Pay Parking, if you ignore the following restrictions, you could be issued with a parking ticket:
- Double Yellow Lines
- Single Yellow Lines - No parking during the hours indicated on the street sign.
- Parking Bays Reserved for People with Disabilities
- Loading Bays
- Cycle Lanes or Tracks
- Pedestrian areas
- Taxi Ranks
- Bus Stops
It is illegal to park in a way which interferes with traffic flow or obstructs or endangers other road users, for example:
- No parking opposite a continuous white line.
- No parking on a footpath (either partly or wholly).
- No parking within 5 metres of a junction.
- No parking at a pedestrian crossing or traffic lights, within 15 metres on the approach side or 5 metres on the other side.
- Do not obstruct any entrance for vehicles, except with the occupier’s consent.
- No parking at a school entrance.
- No parking on a grass margin or median.
Many Ways to Pay for Parking
On-street or car park parking meter
- You can pay in cash and with credit/debit cards at all meters. Contactless payment is available at all meters. Place the ticket inside your car on the dashboard so it is clearly visible from outside the car.
