 Retained Firefighters 

 We are currently looking for potential Retained Firefighters in our Fire Stations based in:

Ardee

Carlingford

Drogheda

Dundalk

Dunleer

To join the Louth Fire Service as a Retained Firefighter, applicants must be aged 18 years and over, meet the required health and physical fitness standards, have a good standard of vision and colour perception and must have a category B, full, clean driving license.

You will need to demonstrate that you have the potential to carry out this challenging role through a detailed recruitment process which includes:

  • Numeracy & Literacy Test
  • Fitness Test
  • Claustrophobia Test
  • Ladder Test
  • Medical assessment
  • Formal Interview
  • 3 week Recruits Course
  • 2 week intensive course Breathing Apparatus Course (within 12 months of appointment)                                                 

  Retained Fire Fighter Fixed Payment €13,523 - €16,854

   Candidates must be living and working within a 8-minute mobilisation/response time to the Fire Station and also must have a reasonable level of fitness.

The first page of the application form lists the mandatory supporting documentation required to be submitted along with the application form. Along with the completed application form and supporting documentation, the declaration available on page 19 of the candidate information booklet is to be signed and submitted as well.

 

Submitting incomplete application form or failure to submit mandatory supporting documentation and/ or declaration will result in disqualification and we will not be able to proceed with your application.

There will be no closing date for receipt of completed application forms for the above position.  Applications will be processed as vacancies arise in the various fire stations.

Candidates may be shortlisted on the basis of information supplied on their application form or any other tests which the local authority may deem necessary.  A panel will be formed for vacancies which may arise within Louth County Council, within 12 months of an interview.
