Status Yellow High Temperature Warning for Louth

Louth County Council is engaging with the National Directorate for Fire & Emergency Management (NDFEM) and other key stakeholders to prepare for high temperatures expected over the coming days.

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow High Temperature warning for Ireland, in place from 12 noon today (Tuesday 23 June) until 9.00am on Friday 26 June.

Daytime temperatures may exceed 27°C, with night-time temperatures staying above 15°C.

While the warm weather will be welcome, it also brings several public safety risks. Louth County Council is encouraging everyone to take simple precautions during this period.

Please remember to:

  • Stay hydrated and avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day
  • Take care near water – swim only in lifeguarded areas, never leave children unattended, avoid alcohol near water, and follow all safety signage
  • Use water responsibly, as demand increases during warm weather
  • Do not light fires in or near forests; use BBQs safely and report any fires by calling 999 or 112
  • Be aware that thunderstorms are forecast, which may bring intense rainfall, localised flooding, poor visibility, and dangerous road conditions
