Sports Clubs Across Louth Invited to Nominate Their Volunteer of the Year

Louth Local Sports Partnership (Louth LSP) is calling for nominations for the fourth annual Sports Club Volunteer of the Year Awards. The awards recognise the vital role played by volunteers in local sports clubs, from coaching teams and organising events to maintaining facilities and supporting the day-to-day running of clubs. Their commitment helps ensure that people of all ages and abilities can participate in sport and enjoy its many physical, social and community benefits.
The awards ceremony will take place on Monday, 9 November 2026, in the Carrickdale Hotel, where one volunteer from every participating sports club in Louth will be honoured and celebrated.
Cllr. Dolores Minogue, Cathaoirleach of Louth County Council said:
"Behind every successful sports club is a team of volunteers who give their time freely for the benefit of others. These individuals coach, organise, encourage and support people of all ages to get involved in sport, helping to build stronger, healthier and more connected communities across County Louth. The Sports Club Volunteer of the Year Awards are an important opportunity to recognise and thank those who make such a valuable contribution. I would encourage every sports club in the county to nominate a volunteer whose dedication deserves to be celebrated."
Oreena Lawless, Chairperson of Louth LSP added:
"The strength of sport in Louth is built on the commitment of volunteers. Whether they are involved behind the scenes or working directly with participants, their contribution is invaluable. Each year, these awards provide us with an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the people who make sport happen in communities across the county. We look forward to recognising another outstanding group of volunteers at this year's awards ceremony."
Sports clubs throughout County Louth are now invited to select and nominate their Volunteer of the Year. In 2025, volunteers from more than 100 clubs across the county were recognised for their outstanding service.
The closing date for nominations is Thursday, 8 October 2026 at 5.00pm. Nomination forms can be accessed and submitted online at www.louthlsp.com.
