Disruption to Council Services: Wednesday, 14 October 2026

Louth County Council advises the public that planned national public sector strike action on Wednesday, 14 October 2026, will disrupt the delivery of Council services.

All Louth County Council offices will be closed to the public, including County Hall and Town Hall, Dundalk; Civic Offices, Fair Street, Drogheda; and Mid-Louth Civic Offices, Ardee.

Members of the public are advised to use online services, including ePlanning and motortax.ie, where possible.

Scheduled appointments may also be affected. Customers will be contacted directly where possible.

All libraries, museums, archives, sports and leisure facilities, animal compounds and parks will also be closed to the public.

Louth County Council’s emergency out-of-hours service will remain operational. For urgent Council-related matters, including emergency housing issues and roads-related emergencies, please call 042 933 5457.

Telephone and email services will also be affected, and responses may be delayed due to reduced staffing levels.

For emergencies requiring the assistance of Louth County Council Fire and Rescue Service, the National Ambulance Service or An Garda Síochána, please call 999 or 112.

The Council will endeavour to maintain essential operations throughout the day. However, significant disruption should be expected, and full-service delivery cannot be guaranteed.

Services are expected to resume on Thursday, 15 October 2026, although the ongoing work-to-rule may continue to have an impact.

Louth County Council regrets any inconvenience caused and thanks the public for its patience and understanding.
