TONIGHT IN HIGHLANES GALLERY DROGHEDA (FRI 4TH SEPTEMBER) AT 7.30PM: Artists' in conversation , Raphael Hynes & Carey Clarke - In person and online

To mark the opening of the two-person exhibition, Simpatico, join artists Raphael Hynes & Carey Clarke (online & in person in the gallery -whatever your preference) as they discuss their practice, their ways of thinking, making and the processes they engage. Former student and tutor at the National College of Art & Design, Dublin, painters Raphael Hynes and Carey Clarke, share many influences, and have connected and professionally and personally over 30 years, but their practices differ formally and conceptually. The exhibition opens Friday 4th September at 7.30pm, and continues until Saturday 31st October, 2020. Please note the gallery's new opening days/hours are: Wednesday - Saturday 11.00am-4pm, closed 1-1.30pm. Contact tracing, face-covering, hand sanitising, and one-way system are the newbies, but everything else remains the same, including a wholesome welcome from our team...

 

1. A return to live Film Club events at An Táin Arts Centre, Dundalk starts this week.   Book now to see 'The Peanut Butter Falcon' which takes place on 8th September at 2pm. Booking: BOOK HERE

2. Visit Connection 1 at Droichead Arts Centre, Drogheda and see the work of local artists including Adrian and Shane, Olga Duka, Declan Kelly, Caoimhe McCarthy, Dorothy Smith and Dee Walsh.

 Between the 28 July to the 18 August, the artists worked on the drawing, but now on completion of the drawing phase, the gallery will be fully open to the public to view the work. Visitor capacity is limited in the gallery, and that is why we are encouraging visitors will to book a gallery visit, available from 11:00am – 4:00pm, Tues to Fri, and 10:00am – 2:00pm, on Saturdays. 

If you do arrive without a booking, and if space is available, we will book you in and you can view the exhibition.  We have also revised our hours of operation to include access times for our senior, vulnerable visitors and visitors with disabilities who will now have priority booking for a gallery visit between the hours of 11:00am – 1:00pm.  Click on link below to book a timeslot.

3.Highlanes Gallery, Drogheda: A new initiative is starting in Highlanes Gallery, Drogheda - a supper club which will take place monthly. Alongside food served in their new café, there will be an art talk to enjoy.  The first event on 18th September will focus on the art of Nano Reid and food from the Boyne Valley.

4. Creative Spark, Dundalk - Book now for place on a  Steamroller Print Project.

The Steamroller Print Project- artists and the community to come together in a cooperative event to celebrate art and community for Culture Night 2020. Come to Creative Spark and get involved in our giant wood cut print. It will be inked up and printed using a steam roller on the night - Creating the largest scale prints Dundalk has ever seen! The image will be an illustration of County Louth .

5. Carlingford Heritage Series - the final concert takes place online at 7pm on Sunday 6th September via Carlingford Heritage Centre Facebook Page.  Featuring Colum Sands, Zoe Conway, John McIntyre and Conor Caldwell. Not to be missed !
