Notice of Part 8 - The Tholsel, West St, Drogheda

The Tholsel, West Street, Drogheda, Co. Louth

Louth County Council hereby gives notice of its intention to carry out Conservation, restoration, repair and upgrade works at The Tholsel, West Street, Drogheda, County Louth. The proposed works are to a Protected Structure (Ref No. DB-253) and are within Architectural Conservation Area No 14; West Street and Surrounding Streets forming Drogheda’s Shopping Core as designated in the Drogheda Borough Council Development Plan 2011-2017 (extended). The works are within a zone of archaeological potential.

The refurbishment and development of the Tholsel shall comprise, generally, the following:

• Removal of 20th century lift and Restoration of original timber stairs and handrails;
• Restoration of the two first floor meeting rooms;
• Provision of a contemporary new passenger lift;
• Essential maintenance repairs to the building;
• Upgrading the Basement toilets and
• All associated services as necessary for the abovementioned works.

Plans and particulars of the proposed development may be inspected or purchased, at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy, from Tuesday 5th March 2019 until Tuesday 2nd April 2019 (inclusive) at the offices of Louth County Council:

Town Hall, Crowe Street, Dundalk, Co. Louth, A91 W20C
County Hall, Millennium Centre, St. Alphonsus Road, Dundalk, Co. Louth, A91 KFW6
during public opening hours.

Submissions or observations with respect to the proposed development, dealing with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the development would be situated, clearly marked “Part 8 –The Tholsel, West Street” may be made in writing to the undersigned at Louth County Council, Town Hall, Crowe Street, Dundalk, Co. Louth, A91 W20C before 5.00pm on Tuesday 16th April 2019.
