Statement of support from An Cathaoirleach

A Chairde,

You will be aware from the recent Government announcement on COVID-19 safety measures that Louth County Council – through the Louth Community Response Forum – is co-ordinate efforts in our county during these challenging times.

The Council is working with more than a dozen local agencies and organisations to ensure a coordinated response in support of our communities. In particular, the Forum is seeking to support the most vulnerable members of our community, many of whom will be following the advice to cocoon at this time.

The Community Response Forum aims to ensure the best use of our collective resources in assisting those vulnerable members of our community with their daily needs at this time, whether that’s collecting medicine, doing their food shopping, or simply providing social support and contact through the community support helpline. We are ready and eager to play our part in facilitating this vital initiative.

Those members of our community requiring support can contact the team on the helpline number which is 1800 805 817 or at covidsupport@louthcoco.ie. I would encourage anyone who needs such support to do so.

In line with Government advice, the Council’s offices throughout the county are now officially closed. However, we have taken measures to ensure that essential services for the people of Louth are maintained during this time. These services include:

  • Homeless services
  • Fire Services
  • Water services

Contact details for these services can be found on the Covid-19 page

On behalf of Louth County Council, I would like to thank our frontline staffs who continue to serve in our county and country’s interest during these unprecedented times. I would appeal to everybody in County Louth to support them by following the HSE’s COVID-19 safety guidelines and staying safe.
Le meas,

Liam Reilly
Cathaoirleach
