April 2015

Draft Ministerial Direction

The Chief Executive of Louth County Council received correspondence from the Department of Environment Community & Local Government on 15th April 2016 which confirmed the Minister has decided not to issue a Ministerial Direction to Louth County Council in respect of Louth County Development Plan 2015-2021.

As a result, the Louth County Development Plan 2015-2021 remains unchanged from what was adopted by the Council on 28th September 2015, including the section in relation to Carrickcarnan and the exemptions in relation to access to National Roads.

October 2015

Draft Ministerial Direction

The Chief Executive of Louth County Council received a draft Ministerial Direction on 22nd October 2015 in relation to certain aspects of the Development Plan which the minister believes does not comply with the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended). In accordance with the draft Direction certain aspects of the new Development Plan with which the Minister is unhappy, namely the zoning of lands at Carrickcarnan and restrictions and exemptions pertaining to single carriageway national primary and secondary routes, shall not have effect in the new Development Plan.

However, the remainder of the recently adopted Development Plan not affected by the draft Direction became effective on Monday 26th October 2015 as originally intended.
