Notification of Works by Irish Water at St. Laurence’s Gate, Drogheda.

Saint Laurence' s Gate is a national Monument under the guardianship of the National Monuments Section.  In relation to works at St. Laurence’s Gate, Irish Water will be working under Ministerial Consent granted by the National Monuments Section of the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht .

The works are necessary to replace an existing watermain beneath the archway in order to link the new watermains being laid on Laurence Street to the new watermains laid on the Cord road. The new watermain will be laid in the same trench as the existing watermain.

David Walsh Civil Engineering will be carrying out the works on behalf of Irish Water from next Tuesday November 14th to the 24th November.  They will conduct a Structural survey and photography of the Gate before and after the works are complete.  They will also carry out vibration monitoring as standard practice when working in proximity to structures. 

IAC Archaeology are currently present on site and will supervise all the works in the vicinity of St. Lawrence’s Gate.
