Renewable Energy Strategy for County Louth

Louth Local Authorities are commencing the preparation of a Renewable Energy Strategy for County Louth.

It is intended the proposed strategy will facilitate and guide the development of domestic, community, commercial and industrial renewable energy projects and ancillary developments in County Louth. The proposed renewable energy strategy for County Louth will evaluate Louth’s potential for the generation of renewable energy and set out how Louth can contribute to meeting the national targets for the provision of renewable energy in a sustainable manner. The proposed strategy will form the basis of future development plan policy and will assist in the assessment of planning applications for renewable energy developments in Louth. Screening of the draft Strategy for an Appropriate Assessment and a Strategic Environmental Assessment will be undertaken.

As part of the pre-draft public consultation process, Louth Local Authorities hereby invite submissions on issues to be addressed and incorporated into the renewable energy strategy for County Louth. Please find enclosed an Issues Paper which identifies renewable energy matters which the Strategy could address. It has been prepared to assist public consultation and comment.

Written submissions or observations may be made with respect to the proposed Renewable Energy Strategy in a number of ways listed hereunder:

Submissions that are signed, addressed and received by Wednesday 6th March 2013 shall be taken into account in the preparation of the proposed Renewable Energy Strategy.
