Civil Defence

Civil Defence Services in County Louth are provided by Louth County Council under the A.R.P. (Air Raid Precautions) Acts of 1939 and 1946 and the Civil Defence Act 2002. Civil defence Training

Mission statement:

To support the first line Emergency services as required and to provide effective community support. Louth Civil Defence will develop and maintain its role as an efficient and well trained volunteer based organization.Civil defence Training
The service has a full time staff of one Civil Defence Officer Greg Flanagan and a Clerk/ Storekeeper James Neary.
Training/stores and administration facilities are provided at St. Dominic's Place, Dundalk, in premises originally built as a Gaol in the 1830's.Civil defence Mountain Rescue
The service has approximately 70 active members, who train at any of the five training centres across the County.
Training is provided to members in First Aid, Rescue Techniques, Fire Fighting Skills, Boat Handling, Welfare and Search and Recovery Skills.
Civil Defence is an equal opportunities organisation, and membership is open to male and females from 16 to 65 years of age.
