Launch of Ardee Slí na Sláinte and Operation Transformation Walk

Operation Transformation – National Walk

The fourth series of Operation Transformation was screened at 8pm on the 4th January on  RTE 1 and will run for seven weeks. Operation Transformation has teamed up with the Irish Sports Council and the Local Sports Partnerships to organise a number of national events. The Operation Transformation National Walk takes place on Saturday 14th January. Louth Local Sports Partnership has organised a walk in Ardee along the Slí na Slainte route. Before the walk the Ardee Slí na Sláinte route will be formally launched by Cllr. Oliver Tully, Cathaoirleach Louth County Council. The walk starts at 11am leaving form Bridge Street Car Park, (beside the River Dee) and follows the 2.5km Sliabh Breagh route. Light refreshments will be served in Ardee Castle after the walk.

We welcome all ages and abilities along on the day and particularly would like to see families getting involved. The event is ideal for beginners to come out and give it a go.

There will be similar events running around the country culminating in a 5km fun run in the Phoenix Park on Saturday 18th February at 10am. Louth Local Sports Partnership has also organised a number of follow on walking programmes. For further details contact Celine Kearney on 042-9324318.

Slí na Sláinte stands for 'path to health'. Developed by the Irish Heart Foundation, the routes are marked by bright colourful signposts and are situated at 1 km intervals, you'll find Slí na Sláinte walk routes all over Ireland. Simply follow the Km signs, set your pace to suit your enjoyment and you'll quickly feel better and get fitter. You will also experience a great sense of achievement.
