The title Fire & Rescue Service covers a broad range of functions ranging from Fire & Rescue cover to Fire Prevention. Fire cover throughout the County is provided by both Full Time and Retained Firefighters (i.e. firefighters who work their own careers and are summoned for emergency duties through a paging system). The fire stations serving the County are as follows:
- Drogheda Fire Station – both Full time and Retained personnel
- Dundalk Fire Station – both Full time and Retained personnel
- Carlingford Fire Station – Retained personnel
- Dunleer Fire Station – Retained personnel
- Ardee Fire Station – Retained personnel
Overall Management and Administration of the Service, Fire Prevention and certain Building Control functions are carried out by Fire Officers and Administrative staff.
