Veterinary Services -About us

 

The Veterinary Section carries out a range of duties involving Veterinary Public Health and Animal Control & Welfare. The public health duties arise from a service contract with the Food Safety Authority of Ireland, whereby the council licenses, inspects and approves the abattoirs and meat processing plants within the county.

Animal controls include the Dog Warden Service, the Animal Compound in Dromiskin, and also additional duties under the Control of Horses Act and the Animals Act.

 

Our Staff Structure

The Veterinary Department consists of one full time Veterinary Officer, two private Veterinary Surgeons employed as Temporary Veterinary Inspectors, one full time Clerical Officer and three full time Wardens.
