The Louth County Development Board brings together Local Government, Local Development, State Agencies at local level, and the Social Partners including the community and voluntary sector. The Board has produced a ten-year strategy for the Social, Economic and Cultural development of County Louth.

The Louth Community and Voluntary Forum is the voice of the community. Its roles include representation, consultation, capacity building and training.
The objective of the Unit is to devise and implement a social inclusion focus in co-operation with all service areas of Louth Local Authorities. This is to be achieved through the implementation of social inclusion initiatives/projects in co-operation with local authority sections.

The RAPID programme (Revitalising Areas by Planning, Investment and Development) is a focused initiative by the Government to target the most concentrated areas of disadvantage in the country. In Louth RAPID is being implemented in Dundalk and Drogheda. Two RAPID Co-ordinators are delivering the programme supported by Area Implementation Teams.
