Age-Friendly Business Being age-friendly means promoting active ageing, optimising opportunities for social and economic participation, health and security to enhance quality of life as people age.Age-friendly business is an approach to doing business that recognises and addresses the market opportunity afforded by society where more people are living for longer. Louth Age-Friendly Business Plan in practice: · Teaching local businesses about serving the senior consumer. “One local hotel approached us for advice on how to become more age-friendly. It cost them €10 per day and because of age-friendly touches such as supplying daily newspapers in their coffee shop, or transporting customers from the local train station, their business has taken off. “A good example is a local butchers who now prepares age-friendly weekly meat packs, which as are sized for senior appetites. · Ardee is set to be launched as Ireland’s first age-friendly town. · Running Start Your Own Business Courses for people aged over 50. · Developing senior skills mentoring, where younger professionals have the opportunity to tap into a lifetime of experience. · Running a number of senior parlours where older people can drop in at any time for a chat or to get advice and information on any of the services available in the community — health, housing, transport, lifelong learning, leisure and exercise opportunities that facilitate inclusion and wellbeing.
