DUNDALK TOWNCOUNCIL WELCOMES PAYPAL PLANS TO LOCATE IN TOWN

Dundalk Town Council has welcomed the announcement by California-based online payments provider PayPal that they are to create 1,000 jobs at a new European Operations Centre in Dundalk over the next four years.

With more than 1,400 people already employed in Dublin, the eBay subsidiary will commence operations at Dundalk in July and aim to create the 1,000 jobs over the next four years with up to 300 in the first year.

Particularly suited to those with language skills, the jobs to be created include customer support, operations, finance, sales and compliance positions.

Welcoming the announcement, Cllr Marianne Butler, Chairperson, Dundalk Town Council, said: “This is a great day for Dundalk and the creation of these job opportunities is very welcome news for those seeking employment in the town currently and in the years ahead.

“PayPal have been good for Ireland since arriving in Dublin in 2003 and we in Dundalk can now help write the next exciting chapter in their story here as more and more transactions are managed through their operations here,” she continued.

“Dundalk is not unusual among Irish towns and cities in having been hit badly by the recession but today’s development offers the hope that there can be better days to come for our town and for Louth and the northeast more widely. It also endorses all that has been done to promote Dundalk as a business location and Dundalk Institute of Technology is also a major attractor.

“Dundalk Town Council and Louth Local Authorities more widely look forward to partnering with PayPal to ensure their experience here is a very positive one that allows them put down deep roots in our town.”
