Welcome to the Online Archive Catalogue of Louth County Archives Service. Louth County Archives Service is the official repository for the public and private
archives of County Louth. The public archives include those of local government in Louth
and its predecessor bodies. We hold historical records dating from the 17th century to the
20th century. These records cover many aspects of the lives of the people of Louth and range
from the archives of official bodies to small collections of family papers.
The Online Archive Catalogue contains descriptions of the catalogued records that
are available for consultation in our Research Room. Many of these include the archives of
the current local authorities in Louth (Louth Co Council, Dundalk Town Council, Ardee Town
Council, and Drogheda Borough Council) in addition to their predecessor bodies such as the Grand
Jury, Board of Guardians, Dundalk Town Commissioners, or Ardee Corporation. Uncatalogued
collections and new acquisitions will be added to this online catalogue on an ongoing basis
as they become processed. |
